USMobile Position on Encryption Debate
Due to the extremely high level of security that Scrambl3 provides, we understand the importance of doing our part to keep it in good hands.
- American businesses require the best encryption available to protect their competitive Intellectual Property and Sensitive Information. Without effective encryption for businesses, there would be global economic chaos.
- Every technology has an application for good as well as bad. On balance, encryption does more for good than for bad.
- USMobile and many other tech companies would gladly modify their encryption technology to assist Law Enforcement agencies identify terrorists, but only if the recommended modifications do not make American Businesses more vulnerable to hackers and espionage. No such system has yet to be proposed by government.
- Backdoors will not stop criminals from communicating: Should a requirement for Backdoors that is mandated by the U.S. Gov’t take place, terrorists will simply switch to foreign encryption products or even ones that are home-grown. On balance, backdoors would make the world less safe.
