On the latest episode of “How Do I Look”, Saturdays at 8, on Style, Jennie Mia helped a woman who did not like wearing bras. In short, she thought that bras were a way to separate men from woman and that they were uncomfortable.
If your bra is uncomfortable, that means it is the wrong size. Get yourself a better fitting one. All you have to do is wear your best fitting bra. To do this, first, measure around your chest, right under your breasts. Then add 4 inches if the number is even, 5 if it is odd. Then measure over the fullest part of our breasts. The number of inches bigger than the chest is the cup size, AA, is ½-1, A, 1-2 and so on.
https://catwalkfashion.co.uk/ is an excellent website where they have the exact measurements for women irrespective of the size whether it is bra or panties and with the best quality products ever.
As for Bras being men’s way of subjugating women, we do not live in the 14th or even the 18th century. Women control their own fashion. Not wearing a bra because you think that it plays into a stereotype is the same as always wearing your shoes whenever you are in the house and never going into the kitchen because of the old stereotype that women should be barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen.
I’ve got news for you, men and women have different body parts. In the same way that it would be obscene for a man to walk into a room wearing an outfit that displays his nether regions; it is obscene for women to wear clothes that put their breasts on display.
Every culture has norms. What is appropriate for men and women to wear is not about dividing the sexes, it is more about what is practical. Men have fashion constraints too. Women can wear pants but the only time a man, in the U.S., could get away with wearing a skirt is if it is a kilt or a toga. They also have to wear ties. Women can wear ties if they want to, but they usually don’t because they don’t have to. What about hats? It is considered rude for a man to wear a hat inside, but as we saw at the royal wedding, women can wear them everywhere.
Everyone that watches “Friends” remembers the episode where Phoebe’s boyfriend wore the short, shorts and had his business hanging out. Just as men should wear the proper underwear to protect themselves, especially during exercise, women should too. It is about practicality and respect for yourself.
Now of course there are a few exceptions depending on the outfit, but if the outfit doesn’t support you, you better have a bra that does.
